The Mount Zion Foundation

The Mount Zion Foundation was initially founded in Jerusalem, Israel in 1949 by the Director General of the ministry of Religious Affairs Dr. S. Z. Kahane. The foundation was formed in order to help maintain the overall physical and cultural values, the dignity and glory of Holy Mount Zion. Dr. Kahane suggested to Rabbi Gerald Goldstein to register a similar (501-C-3) not for profit organization in the U.S. for the same explicit purpose. This was finally accomplished in 1985. ( Fla. corp. # 12756) Dr. Kahane recognized it would take a major fund raising effort to bring to fruition his life long dream of a major World Torah Institution on the lofty heights of Mount Zion. The U.S. foundation has helped underwrite various programs of its Israeli counterpart which are located on Mt. Zion.
1. The Diaspora Yeshiva.
2. The Chamber of the Holocaust, founded together with the state of Israel.
3. The World Peace Center

In addition the foundation was successful in building the first Women's Hebrew Institute in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City. The Cohen- Resnick Building.
The Dr. Alvin and Betty Stern young children's educational Center on Mount Zion.                                       The Jerome Schottenstein school of Torah Heritage on Mt. Zion by his son Jay Schottenstein, Columbus Ohio. It built a half Olympic size swimming pool for camps Metzad and Tamar in the Gush Et-Zion area.

During the last year and a half the Mt. Zion Foundation has been occupied with raising the necessary funds for the most advanced and sophisticated Jewish software program "Animated Talmud". This new program will allow those who were previously denied access to the Talmud, to finally unlock its secrets and see it come alive. Using the most updated and innovative technology, the complexity and intricacies of the Talmud can be understood in a simplified, visual and meaningful way.

In Feb. 2000, The Mount Zion Foundation presented "The False Witness: The Trial of Adolph Hitler". A play by Robert M. Krakow. The most compelling trial of the millennium. It was presented at the Jan McArt's , Royal Palm Theater in Boca Raton, FL.  There was six performances. "A huge success" as reported by several major newspapers.

A very ambitious plan which was needed for the youth of our Jewish community was launched in southern Florida around the same time as our very successful play.
The rapidly - changing world in which we live creates a great challenge for our children. None is greater than the need to develop the skills necessary to succeed while continuing to build upon the Jewish life values that we have created for them. We all know the unfortunate reality. For a variety of reasons, too many of our children do not go on to Institutions of higher learning, therefore, they fail to develop the tools they need to be successful and independent. Consequently , they end up lacking self-esteem, and the ability to support themselves and their families.
For this reason the Mount Zion Foundation established a Torah and Melacha Institute (TMI), a one -of-a-kind Ag-Vo- Tech (Agricultural, Vocational and Technical) Institute.
We though that we could make a difference. The economy started to cool, then 9/11. We were forced to delay the implementation of this most needed program.

Please G-d , with the help of a successful auction, we will be able to launch another needed software program, "Animated Biblical Stories".

We would like to expand the exhibits and area of the Chamber of the Holocaust. In addition to add and develop adjacent to the museum a Biblical Garden.

Expand the World Peace Center and to include a Museum which would include the worlds greatest artists and sculptures original works interpreting their vision of what peace is, and can be.

To establish a TMI Torah and Melacha institute here in Israel.
